Coconut Shell Charcoal Price per Kg: What Moves It
Traders and stall owners often start with one question: what is the coconut shell charcoal price per kg? The honest answer is that it depends. Two quotations with the same figure per kilo can hold different goods.
We do not print a price here. The reason is simple. We have no dated source you can check. Old, undated figures that circulate online mislead more than they help. What we can help with is how to read a quotation.
This site is published by PT Kora Prima Abadi, one of the producers discussed. A Kora quotation is requested through sales, like any other producer’s.
Coconut shell charcoal price per kg: what moves it
Six things most often make the price per kg differ:
- Moisture. Water is weighed too. The more water, the less charcoal you get per kilo.
- Ash and fixed carbon. These are the two quality figures printed most often. The test method is often not stated.
- Lump size. Large lumps, small lumps and granules serve different buyers.
- Crumbs in the sack. Crumbs may not be usable on some equipment.
- Packing. Small sacks are easier to resell. Large packs are harder to move.
- Delivery distance and order size. Freight can outweigh the price gap between goods.
Season may matter too. We have no data to say by how much, so we do not guess.
Printed quality figures are not like for like
Producer pages print different limits. All were read on 22 October 2026 and are each party’s own claims, not our test results:
| Party | Moisture | Ash | Fixed carbon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kora, lump charcoal | at most 10 % | at most 5 % | at least 70 % |
| Arang Briket Yes, shell charcoal | at most 12 % | at most 2.5 % | at least 80 % |

Note that none names a test method, and the basis (as received or dried) is unclear. So the table only shows that figures can differ. It is not a ranking.
How to compare two quotations
First, match the basis. Ask: is this price for charcoal as received or dried? Is delivery included? What is the net weight per sack?
Second, work out the price per kg of dry charcoal. The formula is simple: price per kg divided by (1 minus moisture).
Worked example. These numbers are invented for practice. They are not market prices.
- Offer A: Rp10,000 per kg, moisture 12 %. Per kg of dry charcoal: 10,000 divided by 0.88, about Rp11,364.
- Offer B: Rp10,500 per kg, moisture 7 %. Per kg of dry charcoal: 10,500 divided by 0.93, about Rp11,290.
Offer B looks dearer, yet per dry kilo it is slightly cheaper. This only holds if both moisture figures use the same basis. If the bases differ, the result is off.
Third, add delivery and crumbs. If 5 of every 100 kg is crumb you cannot use, the effective price per usable kilo rises.
Common mistakes when reading a quotation
- Comparing price per kg without asking about moisture. Wet and dry goods are not equal.
- Assuming delivery is included when it is not written down.
- Assuming sack weight is the same in every quotation. Each seller sets its own net weight.
- Forgetting the validity date. An old quotation may have lapsed.
- Ignoring crumbs. Crumbs at the bottom of the sack are still weighed and paid for.
One more: do not choose on the lowest figure alone. Cheap on paper can be dear in the kitchen if half the contents do not fit your stove.
A comparison sheet you can copy
Make a small table with the same columns for every quotation:
| Column | Offer A | Offer B |
|---|---|---|
| Price per kg and validity date | from the quotation | from the quotation |
| As received or dried | ||
| Moisture and ash, and their basis | ||
| Net weight per sack | ||
| Delivery included or separate | ||
| Price per kg of dry charcoal (your calculation) |

Questions for sales
- Is this price for charcoal as received or dried?
- What are moisture and ash, and on what basis?
- What is the net weight per sack, and how are crumbs counted?
- Until what date is the quotation valid?
- Is delivery to my city included?
- What are the payment terms?
Write every answer on one sheet. The wholesale checklist can be printed for that.
Next steps
If you do not yet know the volume, start with sizing monthly charcoal need. When the goods arrive, use checking a charcoal delivery to confirm weight. Compare shapes in lump charcoal vs briquettes.
Kora products are one option you can ask about: lump shell charcoal. To request a quotation, write through the contact page. The first reply comes within two business days.
Questions buyers ask
How much is shell charcoal per kg today?
We do not print a figure, because we have no dated source you can check. Price moves with quality, size, packing, delivery city and order size. Ask for a written quotation with a validity date and compare on the same basis.
Why can two quotations quoted per kg differ so much?
Because a kilo may hold different things. Moisture, ash, lump size and the share of crumbs all differ. One price may include delivery and the other may not.
How do I compare two charcoal quotations fairly?
Match three things first: as received or dried, pack type and net weight, and whether delivery is included. Then work out the price per kg of dry charcoal. A worked example with invented numbers is in this note.
What should I ask sales about the price of lump charcoal?
Ask whether the price is for charcoal as received or dried, what moisture and ash are printed and on what basis, the net weight per sack, the validity date, delivery cost and payment terms. Get all of it in writing.
