Entry 01 · Juragan Arang

Describe your customer before choosing the stock.

A trader often buys on someone else’s behalf. The useful brief connects the purchase to the person who will actually open the pack.

Bring the application into the brief

State the equipment and how the customer loads it. Explain whether the buyer will use the product directly, distribute sealed packs, or divide the stock for resale.

If there is an existing product to compare against, describe what the customer wants to retain and what needs to change. A measurable observation is more useful than a broad quality label.

Separate the forecast from the first purchase

A customer’s expected consumption is background for a discussion, not a confirmed order. Give every quantity a unit and a time period.

  • Which customer channel will receive the stock?
  • Is this one trial purchase or a recurring requirement to discuss?
  • Who will assess the sample and approve the specification?

Leave uncertain details open

An undecided shape or pack size is a valid starting point. Ask sales which options can be discussed. Do not fill gaps with assumptions carried over from another supplier’s catalogue.
